I have been in a funk for a while and decided to push my limits once more. Since my previous progress was in coloring linework, I decided to print off a basic photo of a famous figure (Einstein) from WikiCommons and trace a few of the basic lines. I did everything from there, using the original sepia image as reference. While there are some errors, it am generally pleased with the end result.
([link]) Made in the GIMP and available for anyone's use. Please feel free to drop me a note if you use the image, simply so that I know that someone found it of some value. I think I will actually make this one available as a print. |

Angela's right about the lack of life, though. I think it's mostly because of the eyes. They appear detached from the rest of the body. Better shading in and around them would help correct that, though.

I love humanity with all my heart. I just wish it dead from time to time.
Stupidity is the true power of evil.
And of course now I see that I accidentally erased part of the shadows on the jacket. Ug.
Thanks though, I think that the project worked out on a whole. I am shocked at how well the skin and hair turned out, especially the hair which freaked me out something fierce.
Like the previous comments state, I think he could use some more work through the eyes. Also, some more definition around his nose. Higher contrast shading will also help the image "pop".
Thanks for linking me here; it's good to see how much you've progressed.
